Most healthcare organizations are averse to change. Staff are comfortable with the way things are and assume that what has worked so far will continue to work indefinitely. This mindset will derail any attempts at change.
To overcome it, there must first be a defining moment—an interruption to the norm—that necessitates or inspires action. And second, stakeholders must be engaged at this point to generate buy-in for resulting decisions.
